MaaS is more: Mobility as a Service and on-demand mobility

In every era technology brings and entails revolutions; if you are wondering which great revolution is changing mobility, the answer can only be one: MaaS.

MaaS is more: il Mobility as a Service e la mobilità on-demand

Knowledge platforms and smartphone applications have transformed the use of both public and private transport; the key words are: tailored journeys, intermodality and sustainability.

Digitalization has overturned business models in the mobility sector and has opened the door to the possibility of combining ride-sharing, public transport, bike-sharing and other shared mobility services. It is therefore a matter of abandoning our totalitarian view of perceiving means of transport, in favor of a more democratic perspective. Simpler, faster and more convenient journeys, all of this thanks to MaaS.

Mobility as a Service is a type of service that allows users to choose among different travel alternatives; it is, therefore, a flexible and on-demand transport model that allows not only easier access to transport, but also enables the user to plan, book and pay for their journeys in complete autonomy.

The objective of this form of service is to put users at the center of transport, thus weaving a tailored mobility. MaaS provides for a monthly subscription to the app, in our case youMove, which makes it possible to aggregate all mobility solutions with pay-per-use options.

MaaS platforms develop on three levels:

  • Level 1: offers the sharing of basic information, timetables, prices and multimodal itineraries;
  • Level 2: called aggregation, develops the payment method for the overall journey;
  • Level 3: the on-demand one, which, in addition to the sharing of itineraries and information, makes available various subscription models and unlimited access to transport services.

A mobility ecosystem founded on MaaS benefits on one hand citizens, who can make more conscious, intermodal and sustainable transport choices, and on the other hand the administration which, through the platform, can take advantage of a knowledge base useful for managing transport across its territory, thus contributing to structuring the work of the area mobility manager.

youMove, as a fleet management MaaS platform, has the objective of accompanying the transformation of the mobility system, in line with the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, which includes Mobility as a Service for Italy, aimed at improving national transport policies.

TMR and youMove are part of this revolution, with the conviction that interconnected transport and mobility as a service are the only way to create a new frontier for journeys.

Let us overturn the ancien regime: mobility, intermodality, sustainability.
