TOWARDS A NEW MOBILITY, youMove meets the new frontier of electric: the BMW iX

The e-mobility sector lights up San Pier Niceto, thanks to the event organized by Formula 3, at the Simone Gatto company, during which the new BMW iX was presented.

VERSO UNA NUOVA MOBILITÀ, youMove incontra la nuova frontiera dell’elettrico: la BMW iX

The meeting, held last November 27, marks the advance of a journey that will lead to the overturning of the mindset that characterizes mobility. Saturday was a day in which TMR had the opportunity to showcase youMove, as a fleet management and sharing platform with MaaS features, whose objective is to accompany the transformation of the mobility system.

The event, which made it possible to get hands-on experience with the best green mobility solutions, shows the important growth opportunities for the entire electric supply chain. "Of course, it is not only about cars - underlined Pietro Terranova -, but the cornerstones of this turning point are: sustainability, green and the sharing economy."

BMW's first electric SUV marks a turning point in the landscape of sustainable mobility. The massive lines and the refinement of the details make the latest arrival in the house of the Propeller a true jewel of design, entirely ecological.

"Today the latest arrival at BMW was presented, - declared Giacomo Caselli, CEO of the Formula 3 Group - it is, in fact, an electric car. The company began marketing electric vehicles in 2013 with the i3, an absolutely up-to-date car, made up for 95 percent of recyclable material like the iX. They are two products designed and built thinking exclusively about electric, with all the advantages that a very advanced technology brings. It is a pleasure to be inside it and it offers the possibility of covering medium-to-long distances in complete autonomy, about 400 km, recharging only once. In addition, 350 kW charging stations will be installed along the main road axes throughout Europe, which will make it possible to recharge 80 percent of the battery in forty minutes."

Progressive luxury is how they define it in the Bavarian plants of Dingolfing, where the car is produced. One thing is certain, the born electric SUV of the German manufacturer projects us into the future and opens a new era not only in terms of mobility, but also of electric platform, design and technology. With the BMW iX the new iDrive operating system also debuts, recreating a perfect integration between the car and the person driving it; it is called BMW Operating System 8 and it is designed around the Curved Display and verbal interaction with the Intelligent Personal Assistant.

Speaking of green and the sharing economy, at the presentation of the new iX Pietro Terranova, Head of Software at TMR, spoke: "We are pleased to take part in an event like this, which marks a fundamental step in the conversion towards electric. We at TMR have recently created youMove, a platform that uniformly integrates a powerful fleet management tool that can manage an indefinite number of vehicles such as bikes, cars, scooters and others not yet foreseen. YouMove also allows the integration of local public transport. In this way we have the possibility of creating a system ready for MaaS and, thus, we manage to create a uniform and easy travel experience for the user, who can make the payment from a single platform for all journeys. During the lockdown we rethought our technology, questioning the entire system we had built, making it able to accommodate a greater number of vehicles, rewarding intermodality and betting everything on the concept of Mobility as a Service."

The new BMW iX represents a definitive point of no return in the current phase of transformation towards electric mobility: the group expects, in fact, that fully electric models will, as early as 2030, represent at least half of global sales.

"The concept of sustainability passes through serious planning of journeys - declared Domenico Caminiti, Director of Special Mobility Services at AMAT Palermo -, planning at all levels by local administrations, which must plan movement. But it must also be followed by planning at the family level that makes it possible to leave one's own car behind, in favor of the public transport service. The key word of transport, today, could even be the prohibition of traveling with one's own vehicle, but this, naturally, must find on the other side of the scale a valid offer of collective transport."

Electromobility is only a starting point. The road ahead is still long; we need to identify an integrated method and new paradigms that lead us towards a new mobility - only by adopting local strategies can we develop a global urban model of sustainability.

At TMR we look at the present to design a new future: our autonomy is unlimited.
